Botswana Youth Officer (SRHR) 

Introduction 

SRHR Africa Trust (SAT) supports adolescents and young people in Southern Africa to walk healthy, happy, confident & safe pathways to adulthood.  We’re an UN ECOSOC accredited 33-year-old NGO and network of activists, NGOs, and supporters, focused on young people, SRHR, and the drivers of adolescent health and wellness.

All our programming is with young people and through young people, and our Youth Hubs and partner organizations link young people to one another, as well as linking them to health services, governments, the African Union Commission, and global agencies.

SAT has offices and programming in South Africa, Botswana, Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, and a network of partners and programming in Namibia, Mozambique, Kenya, Ethiopia, Mali, Niger, and Burkino Faso. The office in South Africa also houses the regional function which collaborates with partners globally, at the African Union Commission, at SADC level in Southern Africa.

Job Purpose

The main aim of the role is to run SAT Country Youth Hubs and to coordinate youth engagement in all SAT activities, including advocacy and service delivery outreaches, and to feed youth-consulted and data-driven inputs to SAT work and to youth mobilization.  .

 

Main Task and Duties 

  1. Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders and partners in the sector at local national, regional and international levels to facilitate information sharing and joint influencing.

  2. Develop annual workplans that reflect site context and capacity and is aligned to delivering SAT's overall strategy.

  3. Develop and implement all other SAT programming plans against strategy and budget, and appropriate to context

  4. Develop and manage capacity building and strengthening activities to ensure that staff and partners have the right level of skills and capabilities to execute on their mandates.

  5. Develop and implement SAT advocacy strategy and plans by ensuring that SAT’s reputation makes it a ‘partner of choice’ for community-aligned initiatives and as a full participant in national responses to SRHR and by conduction. It also includes conducting advocacy and dialogues in support of SAT strategy and programming.

  6. Implement and maintain donor, partner and internal reporting.

  7. Identify and cultivate potential donors and funding opportunities and continue to develop and maintain current donor relationships.

  8. Contribute to SAT’s Monitoring and Evaluating (M&E) to ensure that programme implementation is aligned to strategic goals.

                        

Requirements:

  1. Post-Secondary School Certificate/ Bachelor’s Degree/ Diploma.

  2. Good level of presentation and report writing skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  3. At least 2 years experience in youth activism.

  4. Must not be older than 30 years
