Small Non-Profit Organisation in Family and Society Development
Closing date: 29th June,2023 REF: PSA 729
Cape Town based
This service organisation is focused on offering comprehensive family counselling, education and support services based in Cape Town.
The current CEO is retiring and we are now looking for a new degree-qualified Chief Executive Officer who has the drive and passion to grow and develop this organisation further through the following key performance areas:
- Providing overall strategic leadership and implementation oversight of all programmes.
- Devising financial strategy for long-term sustainability, including marketing, and ensure implementation and maintenance of financial management systems and donor reporting.
- Human resource management and staff development.
- Maintaining donor / stakeholder relationships and source new funding opportunities inclusive of social entrepreneurship.
- Advocating for and representing the organisation to external stakeholders and potential long term partners for funding and support.
- Ensuring proper governance oversight and compliance with all applicable legislation.
- Managing organisational resources and operations.
The successful candidate will portray the following skills and capabilities:
- At least 8 years senior management experience preferably gained in the social development related Non-Profit sector
- Be aligned to the values of the organisation which aims at sound values within the family and society at large.
- A strong social entrepreneurship mindset is essential to the overall development of this organisation and therefore proven experience, skills and success in fundraising inclusive of social entrepreneurship and building and maintaining donor / stakeholder relationships.
- Degree in related fields such as Business Development and Finance would be seen as an added advantage .
- Demonstrated communication and networking capabilities, including building partnerships with community and civil society organisations, corporate and government organisations .
- Sound knowledge of the legal framework within which this type of social development organisation operates.
- Strong strategic and decision making capacity along with sound management and strong problem-solving and skills.
- Have a consultative management approach and a willingness to engage with and learn from the experience of others.
- Experience and skills budgeting and financial management as well as human resource management,
- Proven experience, skills and success in service delivery innovation.
- Previous experience in evaluating impact assessment of monitoring and evaluation systems an added advantage.
- Ability to carry high workload and work under pressure and maintain a flexible work schedule required to meet the demands of this position, which will include strong time management skills.
- Excellent written and spoken English. (Fluency in Afrikaans and /or isiXhosa an advantage though not essential)
- High level of computer literacy.
- Driver’s license and own transport essential.
As this position requires strong aspects of business development, it is not necessarily a role for someone from a Social work type of background; however there is a need to have excellent experience of fundraising and social entrepreneurship.
