The Western Cape Economic Development Partnership, known as the EDP, is an independent, not-for-profit, public benefit company that works with a range of partners to improve systems performance for improved socio-economic development outcomes. 

 

The EDP partners with leaders and institutions from different sectors – public, private, civil society, education and academia – to work together, to grow the local, metropolitan, regional and national economy, and to address complex system challenges. 

 

Based in Cape Town, the EDP seeks to fill the following vacancy:

 

PROGRAMME SUPPORT: ENERGY & CLIMATE PROGRAMME

 

The Programme Support Officer will play a critical role in supporting the Programme Lead in the Energy & Climate Programme. This position focuses on executing administrative and operational tasks, contributing to project management, and facilitating effective communication within the programme.

 

This role is ideal for dynamic individuals eager to develop their expertise in 'partnering for impact' within the energy and climate sectors. It is especially suited for those seeking to expand their skill set and network, while growing the Energy & Climate Programme.

 

This is a key support role within the Energy & Climate Programme. It involves comprehensive engagement with various project components and stakeholders. The position also offers a pathway for professional growth and contribution to the energy and climate sectors, with the possibility of growing professionally as the Energy & Climate Programme grows.

 

The Programme Support Officer: Energy & Climate Programme will be responsible for the following tasks and duties, among others:

 

Administrative and Operational Support:

 

  1. Assist in the coordination and management of programme activities.

Communication and Documentation:

 

  1. Facilitate effective communication within the programme and with external stakeholders.
  2. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to the programme, including meeting notes, and internal and external reporting.

Project Assistance:

 

  1. Provide support in project planning and implementation.
  2. Assist with research and data analysis for ongoing projects.
  3. Tracking action items, follow up emails, meeting scheduling.

Stakeholder Engagement:

 

  1. Support the Programme Lead in liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Professional Development:

 

  1. Engage in opportunities to grow professionally within the energy and climate sector.

The Programme Support Officer: Energy & Climate Programme needs to be able to demonstrate skills and relevant experience in the following areas:

 

  1. Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent.
  2. Minimum of 2 years in a support role within project or programme management.
  3. Experience in the energy and climate sectors is preferred
  4. Experience working with multiple stakeholders is preferred.
  5. Excellent organisational and administrative skills.
  6. Strong communication abilities, both written and verbal.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and digital communication tools.
  8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  9. Experience working with ChatGPT and/or keen interest in learning

Timely and effective execution of assigned tasks.

 

Effective Communication:

 

Maintain clear and consistent communication channels within and outside the programme.

 

Quality of Work:

Accuracy and quality in documentation, research, and administrative tasks.

 

Please note that this is a 1-year contract with a possibility of renewal.
