Background

Black Girls Rising is a start-up non-profit focused on empowering young Black Girl leaders (12 to 18 years) within marginalised communities to be in the forefront of climate action. We aim to raise well-informed, smart, strong and bold young women to make better positive decisions for themselves and to be creative leaders and courageous change makers.

Purpose

The effective management and execution of the administrative and logistics functions for Black Girls Rising and provision of secretarial support to the Executive Director. 

Responsibilities

Administrative coordination and support Provide day-to-day administration support. Assist with the preparation of reports and presentations. Assist with preparation of donor reports and fundraising proposals 

Secretarial Support Assist the Executive Director with diary management, team and board meetings and the preparation of board packs.

IT and office equipment Ensure the efficient running of the IT and other systems – act as the main point of contact with IT service provider, other contractors and suppliers when needed

Travel, Events & Logistics Book travel and transport incl. car hire, flights, accommodation, shuttles, etc. Submit and reconcile expense reports. Support project team with ad hoc logistics requirements.

Finance Administration Monthly debit card recons and procurement

Requirements

  • Matric or equivalent qualification, ideally a relevant tertiary qualification

  • At least 5 years administration experience, ideally within a not-for-profit

  • Highly proficient in MS Office, especially Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Personal qualities

  • Excellent time management, organisation and planning skills 

  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work

  • Attention to detail and problem solving skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Team player combined with ability to work independently

Closing date: 23 May 2023

Contract: 24 months (renewable subject to available funding)
