The Tshiamiso Trust is seeking the services of suitable Medical Service Providers (MSPs) throughout Southern Africa to conduct Benefit Medical Examinations (BMEs) to assist former mineworkers claiming compensation related to TB and silicosis.

Interested Medical Service Providers MUST attend a mandatory online briefing session at 11 am on 12 July 2024  

In short, the scope of work includes Reception/Administration, completion of the TB Symptom Questionnaire, Digital Chest x-ray, vital screening and physical examination, Lung Function/Spirometry Test and Medical Report.   

Accreditation will be determined by the Trust and will be guided by clinical, Information Technology (IT), geographic, facilities and referral requirements.   

The skills mix of clinical staff required for BMEs includes Occupational Health Nurse Specialist or Primary Care Nurse Specialist, Radiographer, Spirometry/lung function technician(s), Medical Practitioner with experience in diagnosis of occupational lung diseases, or Occupational Medical Doctor.   

The medical service provider must have the following clinical equipment to ensure that the minimum quality standards are met: i. Digital Chest X-ray equipment, ii. Spirometry/lung function equipment. Other relevant equipment: Baumanometer, weighing scale, height gauge, thermometer, emergency bag, oxygen point or cylinder (mandatory) and Glucometer, ENT set, pulse oximeter (optional).   

The service providers’ staff are expected to be computer literate and will be required to complete and submit all of the information relevant to the BME and all supportive documentation electronically via CCMS. Specific IT equipment is required for this.   

The preferred medical service provider model will prioritise fixed sites supplemented by mobile units where necessary.   

The medical service provider must have suitable facilities and adequate referral mechanisms.
