The Scalabrini Centre of Cape Town is a South African NPO advocating for the rights of people on the move. Our mission is to welcome, to protect, to promote and to integrate, people on the move into local communities.
Purpose of position (summary):
Lead and implement the MHPSS component of the programme, offer a social work and community development perspective to pathway planning for vulnerable people on the move offer mentoring and supervision services to peer facilitators and leadership group members.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- MHPSS (Mental health and psychosocial support) services including trauma screening of clients and facilitation of Emotional Support Groups for clients
- Pathway planning for vulnerable clients (Women’s Platform and Welfare programme) including people living with disabilities, homeless people, gender-based violence survivors, etc.
- Facilitate open workshops & training for peer facilitators and leadership group members
- Contribute to curriculum updates as needed
- Mentoring and supervision services for peer facilitators and leadership group members
- Advocate for women on the move in relevant and constructive ways
- Maintain and expand network and partner organisations
- Report writing and programme Monitoring & Evaluation
- Any other responsibilities that may evolve with the role in due course
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
Minimum requirements:
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience as a Social Worker after registration at the SACSSP
- SACSSP registered
- Experience in community development;
- Experience in working with trauma including GBVF and counselling
- Excellent English verbal and written communication skills
- Good facilitation and supervision skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Advantageous
- Experience in working with refugees and migrants
- Passionate about empowering women
- Speaking additional languages e.g. French, Swahili
- Own transport and a valid driver’s license
