Nexia SAB&T seeks to appoint dynamic a individual on fixed term contract in Johannesburg to fill the following position:  

 

Technical Assistant – Finance (REF: 01/06/2023)  

 

The Global Fund: Project Management Unit within the National Department of Health is seeking a highly motivated individual to provide financial management support:  

 

Roles & Responsibilities  

 

  1. Assist finance manager with leadership of financial management and audit preparedness.  
  2. Assist in addressing all the weakness identified by the PR, LFA and auditors.  
  3. Ensure that all governance within the SR are improved.  
  4. Ensure that adequate financial controls are adhered to for all financial transactions including petty cash administration.  
  5. Participate in preparation of the annual budgets and work plans together with the program and procurement and other members of the financial team.  
  6. Present weekly and monthly finance reports to the finance manager and ensure compliance Modified Cashflow Standard of Accounting.  
  7. Generate financial reports for management review.  
  8. Initiate all banking operations for approved financial transactions.   
  9. Review all deviation requests and make recommendation to management for prior approval before payment processing.  
  10. Maintain and reconcile General Ledger and all subsidiary accounts for the organisation.   
  11. Capture and review documentation from Administrators in accordance to accounting and tax protocols.   
  12. Implement an efficient accounting records management system.  
  13. Review documentation submitted for transactions and report on policy deviations.   
  14. Ensure audit readiness in financial matters and engage effectively with relevant stakeholders.   
  15. Prepare tax compliance submissions for approval by the Finance Manager.  
  16. Track all payables and receivables of the grant.  
  17. Any other financial tasks as delegated by management.

Qualification, Skills & Experience:  

 

  1. A financial accounting degree or equivalent (A qualified CA would be an added advantage).  
  2. At least 3 years’ experience working in a donor funded environment.  
  3. Exposure to SARS and e-filing returns  
  4. Ability to work with different software packages in records processing, preferrable SAGE Evolution 2000 will be an added advantage.  
  5. Strong inter-personal skills to liaise with funders, auditors and other stakeholders.  
  6. Strong communication, financial reporting, presentation, both oral and written.  
  7. Ability to travel and support financial operations in the 2 districts of implementation.   
  8. A driver’s License is a pre-requisite.
