Once upon a time, a bunch of like-minded people gathered together and set up a trust. Their combined vision was to love, empower and inspire children to love themselves and their planet. And so it is …The I Am Love Revolution began.
The I Am Love Revolution was established in 2012 with a mission to:
- Care about children and about the planet;
- Believe in its inner thoughts create its outer reality;
- Know that everybody has something valuable to offer and everyone has a unique purpose;
- Inspire children and engage their imaginations to bring about change and transformation to the world;
- Play and muddy its hands in the earth;
- Mix up colour and splash it around;
- Know that it is connected to nature and love to dance to her beat;
- Believe that the more you love, the more you give back to the world; and
- Believe that community and collaboration are the future and so it begins today.
The organisation’s vision is to host a series of self-expression and transformation workshops for disadvantaged communities, as part of sustainable strategies for corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives. Its other vision is to unlock purpose and potential, develop self-esteem through self-expression and experiential learning, and create community clubs and mentorship schemes.

The I Am Love Revolution creates, develops and delivers tailor made workshops and strategies with the aim to empower children, trainers and communities in Southern Africa.
The organisation engages with children through the vehicles of story telling, imagination and self-expression.
It partners and collaborates with like minded people, connecting children to themselves, nature and purpose by offering skills outside the curriculum focused learning norms.
The organisation engages with children by synergistically bringing together brands, corporate companies and communities.
It creates, develops and delivers tailor made workshops and strategies with the aim to empower kids, trainers and communities in Southern Africa.

I am Love loves children and it loves what it does.
Challenges:
Through St. James preparatory school, it ran a pilot programme, which was Phase 1. This was a dipstick evaluation, which has revealed excellent results from the response of the children, to the excitement in the community to the reports from a local psychologist.
The organisation is now looking for funding for Phase two of its project. It is time to take The I Am Love Revolution to the next level. It would like to expand the programme and then bring the full programme into function. This includes the full seven-month programme, which will incorporate the nine different workshops (visit The I Am Love Revolution website to view the details of each workshop) and assist and improve the lives of 30 children. Expanding the programme requires additional input beyond the community of Kalk Bay. Once we have run the full programme in Kalk Bay, the organisation would like to expand the programme to the rest of the Western Cape and eventually to South Africa nationwide enriching and encouraging the future of our wonderful nation.
The outcomes of The I Am Love Revolution programmes are simple, yet profound. Research in the field of behavioural science has shown that an approximate of 87 percent of all adults will succeed in their life choices if they have self-love, self-worth and self-esteem.
The basis of self-awareness is established as early as before the age of seven and thereafter a child builds their idea of life from that point onward based on what they have experienced before age seven. Psychologists and psychiatrists have noted that any adult suffering from limiting beliefs that prevent them from having wholesome relationships, setting and reaching their goals, learning and socialising all stem from the ages before seven.
The organisation believes that it has an opportunity to assist those children that have not had the chance or ability to develop on this level.
With the above programme in full force, the benefits are endless. These children will reap the rewards of expressing themselves with confidence and further their purpose. The lives of vulnerable children are transformed, creating an entirely different trajectory for them.
The organisation will create nine new I am Love community clubs (equipped and sustained), nine new community leaders are trained and empowered. After each workshop, I am Love clubs will be established in the community where mentors and children can continue the experience in a sustainable way with continued evaluation.
Its hope is that there will be a caregiver in the community who would enjoy; for example, nature and have the passion and vision to continue hosting a Nature Club. It asks of its workshops hosts to act as a mentor and pass on skills and love.
Ongoing reading and self-expression skills are improved. Sustainable products will be sold for fundraising and further community development and skill training. Further partnerships and collaborations are explored to enhance value to children.
The I Am Love Revolution began its programme in Kalk Bay where it has run the pilot programme.
It believes that charity really does start at home, and that’s why it began our programme in the community where people live and work. Kalk Bay has an established community structure in place to link with local schools and community centres. Kalk Bay’s natural surroundings are perfect for hiking, painting and self -expression.
There is great talent and skill in so many people in a community and they want to share this with each other. Valuable generosity from the community.
