Background and Main Purpose of the Job:
Suitable candidate must be able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization. ACFS programme work requires both strategic and operational coordination to ensure that the organisation grows its capacity and deepens the impact of its work. This is a middle management level post that requires an understanding of both strategy and operations and how to bring these two components together to maximise the quality of the organisation’s programme delivery. The post requires an understanding of socio-economic, development, community development programmes and interventions and the impact it has on communities in the context of multidimensional poverty. Determining and ensuring programme quality is a key feature of this position. The primary function of the Health and Nutrition Coordinator includes supporting the ACFS programmes in the implementation of health and nutrition activities, reporting and reinforcing the capacity of the field staff through day-to-day supervision, mentoring and coaching as well as training. The Health and Nutrition Coordinator is expected to contribute in building sustainable interventions in promoting integration of nutrition services into the health services package.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor of science in Nutrition
· Post Graduate Diploma in Public Health
· Diploma in Home Economics (Education)
.  A minimum of 3 to 5 years within the NGO and or Community Development Sector
.  A valid Driver’s license

Duties and Responsibilities  
· Identify potential nutrition and nutrition-related projects for development and lead on the concept note or proposal development while liaising with interested partners and stakeholders
· Plan and conduct nutritional assessments and surveys following the nationally approved survey protocol and feed assessments results into proposals.
· Lead the development of a referral mechanism and communication strategies for referrals between ACFS stakeholders and health facilities
· Ensure strong linkage of nutrition components with other components of the project such as Health, Hygiene, WASH and disaster prevention and preparedness.
· Support the health and nutrition centre staff and supervisors to establish and maintain reporting systems and data flow mechanisms
· Ensure proper functioning of reporting systems for regular assessment, monitoring and evaluation of the program against its objectives and expected results.
· Conduct critical monitoring of all aspects of Health, and identify areas of concern – Submit workable solutions for identified challenges.
· Follow up of project implementation to review progress towards objectives through organizing regular review meetings, update and experience sharing meeting among staffs.
· Prepare detailed work plan and budget plan for health and nutrition activities and ensure implementation of planned activities according to the work plan adhering to the approved budgets
· Support and motivate program staff in their work, by ensuring appropriate training, coaching and supervision by technical leads where appropriate
· Coordinate very closely with logistics in order to ensure that there is no break in nutrition program supplies.
· Organize and follow-up on all other procurements needed for the projects
            · Ensure there is alignment of all M&E project plans and results-based framework plans to ACFS’s strategic framework, goals and targets;
            · Ensure that M+E Plans and tools in place at start-up of projects and that there is cohesiveness across projects & programmes
            · Assess the training needs of staff; develop a training program to meet these needs; conduct nutrition training for staff and all stakeholders                            implementing nutrition programs, focusing on all aspects of community-based approaches (Nutrition outreach interventions)
            · Support of the Health and Nutrition staff in ACFS Centres including mainstream interventions like WASH & recycling
            · Organise collaborative interdepartmental health and road shows to support poor communities to access government services
            · Develop, implement and evaluate quality assurance measures and ensure appropriate follow up.
            · Prepare and provide regular weekly and monthly progress reports in coordination with the M&E Officer
            · Attending and prepping Relevant Project Meetings
            · Keeping records organized and intelligible.
            · Working with staff to develop filing and records systems that lead to a well-documented information management system.
            · Attend sector and donor meeting as directed from the Executive Director from time to time
