The AIDS Foundation of South Africa (AFSA) is a Durban-based NGO that acts as an interface between Donors and Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) working in the HIV/AIDS sector by placing donor funds with strategically selected CBOs, in South Africa, and providing them with ongoing, technical support & capacity building.
AFSA wishes to appoint a suitably qualified individual to serve as Chief Finance Officer for the Head Office. Applicants must have the ability to work in a demanding and high-pressured environment and be able to travel extensively and frequently.
Purpose of job:
The main purpose of a Chief Financial Officer
(CFO) is to manage a company's finances to ensure stability and growth, which
involves strategic financial planning, risk management, and financial
reporting. Collaboration with the CEO, provide leadership, strategic direction and technical supportRequirements & Qualifications
Educational Qualification:
Experience:
- Chartered Accountant or relevant business qualification with a finance focus. Articles must be completed
Experience:
- Multiple audit experience
- At least seven years’ senior financial management experience within the NGO sector or leadership role in a small medium enterprise (SME)
- Experience with Board governance
Skills and Competencies:
- Pastel and VIP
- Sage
- Knowledgeable of up-to-date donor and funding trends, both private and public
- Fluent in English and one additional African language
- Demonstrated executive or senior leadership skills with the ability to translate strategy and complexity into structured plans, systems, processes
