About Phakamani Foundation
Phakamani Foundation is a registered nonprofit and Christian public benefit organisation committed to addressing poverty and unemployment through micro-enterprise development. It serves people in need irrespective of race, religion or creed.
Through an integrated programme of business training, group loans and ongoing support, Phakamani helps women start and grow small businesses, earn income and build savings. Its community-based branches are staffed by people from the communities they serve, while repaid loans are reinvested to support other entrepreneurs.
Phakamani means “rise up” in isiZulu—a name that reflects its commitment to helping women create opportunities for themselves, their families and their communities.
