Below are some key discoveries from What’s Your Story? participants about empathy that could transform how we understand and harness its power to improve relationships, foster social cohesion and drive meaningful change across different levels.Empathy starts with you“When I look in the mirror, I not only see myself, but What’s Your Story? makes you think about others. I feel more curious and have more empathy as it makes you realise… to put yourself in others’ shoes,” observed a What’s Your Story? workshop participant. Empathy unites communitiesExplaining how she reached out to an Ethiopian shopkeeper in her community, another What’s Your Story? workshop participant shared, “I was interested to hear where he comes from, how he came to SA, what was his name, because everyone calls him ‘My Friend’. He was very appreciative. He said no one has asked what his name is. He was curious to understand why I wanted to know about him, and I explained that I have done this exercise and want to get to know more about people that I interact with.
