Job Title:

Clinical, Educational and Counselling Psychologists.

Purpose:

 

 To provide continuing and comprehensive mental and behavioural health care for individuals, groups, and families within the defined Higher Health mandate and catchment population.  In addition, the psychologist will be responsible for the overall management and leadership of the supervisees, as well as the staff's education, mentoring, and coaching.

  Fixed-Term Contract – 01 January 2025 to 31 March 2026

Location:

  Mpumalanga

 

Main Functions: 

  1. Provision of a psychosocial intervention to the beneficiaries

 

  1. Provide face-to-face and group therapy to beneficiaries of care through defined platforms
  2. Provide prevention and promotion programmes which include but are not limited to Stress management Assertiveness and conflict management Study skills, Suicide prevention, Gender-based violence, Exam/test anxiety
  3. Provide and supervise dialogues on GBV and Mental Health 
  4. Psychoeducation on mental Health and GBV for beneficiaries of care 
  5. Distribution of IEC material as part of demand and awareness creation

 

  1. Support capacity-building initiatives within the organization

 

  1. Provide training to HCWs and Registered Counsellors as per the training plan or identified needs
  2. Attend seminars and conferences as part of self-development
  3. Participates in radio interviews as part of content development for Future beats 
  4. Support and provide content and articles for the newsletter
  5. Stakeholder management and engagement
  6. Participates in stakeholder meetings and engagements
  7. Provide regular reports and feedback to stakeholders within the policy framework of the organization

 

  1. Strategic management and leadership.

 

  1. Attend clinical meetings to provide updates and feedback on programme implementation
  2. Supervise teams and individuals allocated to them
  3. Submit monthly data and reports in the prescribed format
  4. Participate in forums as delegated from time to time

Requirements: 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Qualification 

  1. Master’s Degree in Counselling, Educational or Clinical Psychology
  2. Recent registration with HPCSA as a Psychologist in Independent Practice 
  3. Valid Driver’s License (except for persons living with disabilities preventing them from driving)

 

   Experience

 

  1. Proficiency in Psychotherapy and Counselling, Psychometric Assessments, Psychoeducation, Diagnosis and Treatment across the lifespan, and the ethical and legislative framework of practice
  2. Coordinate and facilitate the referral processes
  3. Knowledge of departmental guidelines and policies (DHET & DOH)
  4. Case management skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  5. Advanced computer literacy, including MS Excel 
  6. Management experience is an added advantage
