Lawrence House is a Child and Youth Care Centre that accommodates 30 children and youth (5-18 years) and provides a trauma-informed care environment to meet the care and protection needs of unaccompanied minors and separated refugee children. We are looking for a male child and youth care worker with experience.

Lawrence House provides holistic care with a specific focus on enhancing the rights and needs of vulnerable children on the move.
Purpose of position (summary): To render childcare services within a therapeutic environment, which includes supporting the children’s physical, emotional, spiritual, cognitive and social needs.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
· Provide child and youth care services: address residents’ basic needs, prevent re-traumatisation, apply a trauma-informed care approach
· Life space interventions, including life space counselling
· Accompany residents for appointments (medical, scholastic, etc.)
· Implement house routines and activity programmes
· Attend team meetings and contribute to implementing IDP interventions
· Perform all required administrative tasks, attend staff meetings, trainings and multidisciplinary panels
· Record interventions and observations in designated books
· Ensure supervision and care of all children and youth at all times (i.e. meal times, recreation times, night time, etc.)
· Actively contribute to ensure the health and safety of the house
Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
· A male CYCW with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in a residential child and youth care facility
· Qualification: Child and Youth Care Worker
· Registration: South African Council for Social Services Professions (SACSSP)
· Valid First Aid Level 2 Certificate (desirable)
· Valid Driver's License
· Good reporting and communication skills
· Two recent and contactable work references
· Reliable, energetic individual, with a passion for child and youth care, willing to learn, and able to work as part of a team
