Overview:
The IT, Thinking Skills and Homework Club Facilitator plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive, engaging, and well-structured learning environment for our children and young adults, and growing them in IT and thinking skills to enable them to thrive in today’s world. The role involves facilitating study skills, promoting critical thinking through various activities, and ensuring growth in IT skills.
The IT, Thinking Skills and Homework Club Facilitator plays a crucial role in fostering a supportive, engaging, and well-structured learning environment for our children and young adults, and growing them in IT and thinking skills to enable them to thrive in today’s world. The role involves facilitating study skills, promoting critical thinking through various activities, and ensuring growth in IT skills.
Key Responsibilities:
1.Oversee Homework, Online Studies and Study Support for high schoolers:
•Oversee the high school Homework Club (this includes set up and clearing up).
-Provide individual or group assistance with homework and studying, and encourage others to volunteer to assist you (must have necessary skills).
•Facilitate exam preparation and ensure students are using effective study skills (may use external facilitators in this process).
2.Develop Thinking Skills for all school-goers
•Further develop and facilitate Critical Thinking Programme, including Mini Chess, puzzles, and board/card games- this covers all ages (Grade R – Grade 12)
•Ensure Maths Club and literacy curriculum and resources at Friday Maths Club are meeting needs, and maths helpers are able to assist effectively.
•Teach high school students at Maths Club where there are helper gaps.
3.Grow technology and IT Skills for youth and young adults, and for the organisation as a whole:
•Ensure an effective programme in place to ensure foundational computer and IT skills in our youth and young adults
•Encourage development in the organisation’s processes and systems using technology.
4.Administrative Duties:
•Keep an accurate attendance register for all sessions, and all other admin and monitoring associated with running programmes
•Track school marks for all learners.
•Keep abreast with technology developments
5.Other
•Support the ReStory team where needed
•Support high school students and school leavers on ad-hoc basis
•Other ad-hoc requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
•Core Matric Maths a requirement, as well as strong matric marks
•A degree or diploma, completed or at least in progress if studying correspondence.
•Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
•Passion for working with youth and fostering learning.
•Strong proficiency in basic IT skills.
•Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
•Ability to create a positive and motivating learning environment.
•Experience with teaching, tutoring, or educational support is preferred.

This role requires a dynamic individual who can engage with learners of varying ages, support their academic growth, and embrace technology to enhance educational outcomes.
Requirement: 30-40 hours per week including on average 4 hours most Saturdays.
Salary: Salary will depend on the individual’s skill and experience. It will be NPO market-related. We are looking for organisational fit and natural maths / thinking skills/ IT tutoring flair.
