About Me

10 years of my experience was acquired through heading a consulting firm, Clear Cut Solutions, based in South Africa. I managed a team of 10 full time Enterprise Development and Finance Specialists, and a number of external consultants. My contribution included concept development, strategy formulation and implementation, monitoring and evaluation as well as reporting. He serviced several enterprise development initiatives that included expansion capital raising, business development, research, training, as well as mentorship and coaching. He also facilitated access to government incentive and empowerment schemes such as the Manufacturing Competitiveness Enhancement Programme (MCEP), Black Business Supplier Development Programme (BBSDP) and Black Industrialist Scheme (BIS). His achievements with Clear Cut Solutions include the following:   

  • ZAR800 million investment funding for 500 SMEs in South Africa: This was achieved mainly through leveraging Government funding provided through inventive schemes and private capital. As part of the funding were enterprise support services that included mentorship and coaching, training and competitive enhancement interventions.  

  • Cooperative Banks Development Agency CFI Support: Provided mentorship and coaching toCooperative Financial Institutions with a combined asset value of ZAR25 million and a total of 75 board members (average of 15 board members per each corporative). The mentorship programme included providing training to the Board and Board Committees on Strategy Formulation, Policy Development, Supervision, Risk Management, Business Continuity, Governance and Ethics and Financial Management. One of the CFIs, Ziphakamise Co-op Bank, was successfully registered as a Co-operative Bank as a result of the intervention.  

  • DAI - PIND Partnership Nigeria: DAI assisted the Chevron Corporation with the strategic design of the Foundation for Partnership Initiatives in the Niger Delta (PIND), a Nigerian-registered foundation, by helping outline a strategy for its economic development program, specifically orienting its activities around a market systems approach and developing monitoring and evaluating mechanisms to document their impact. Isaac Njenge assisted with the design of programme, training of 150 business service providers on Linkages as a solution to achieve sustainable development, supplier diversity, conducting company diagnostics using various tools. The training also included business strategy, finance for non-specialists, and business writing.  

  • Department of Trade and Industry South Africa where he was part of a team that advised the Department on the design of the Black Business Supplier Development Programme (BBSDP), a programme designed to address supply side bottlenecks by providing funding to black owned enterprises.   

  • South African International Business Linkages (SAIBL) where he was instrumental in improving SME competitiveness of hundreds of businesses and cooperatives as well as linking of black businesses into corporates value chains.   

  • South African Supplier Diversity Council where he was involved in the formation of the supplier diversity organization. He also efficiently played the role of a linkages specialist.   

I hold Master of Philosophy Degree in Development Finance with the University of Stellenbosch South and holds Bachelor of Commerce Honours Degree in Banking.

This program is prepared me for a wide range of careers in the financial services industry, including positions in the manufacturing and mining industries, financial and economic research institutions, government, and academia.

I delved into subjects such as Economics, Investment Management, and Banking, gaining a robust understanding of financial systems and markets. The curriculum emphasized the application of economic theories to banking and financial practices, with a strong focus on economic development and its impact on financial markets.

As a graduates of this program, I was well-equipped for further education, including master’s and doctoral studies in Banking, Financial Economics, Finance, and Business Administration, or interdisciplinary programs related to Banking and Financial Economics1.

Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Management Development Programme

University of the Witwatersrand, School of Economic and Business Sciences - (2019 - 2019)

The Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Management Development Programme at the University of the Witwatersrand, School of Economic and Business Sciences, is a pioneering initiative aimed at professionalizing and institutionalizing B-BBEE within the South African economic framework. This program, developed in collaboration with UNISA and WITS, was designed to create a standardized national knowledge base for B-BBEE consultants, verification agencies, and practitioners in both the private and public sectors.

The B-BBEE MDP enhanced my understanding and compliance with the B-BBEE Act, Codes of Good Practice, Sector Codes, and the Verification Manual. It addressed the need for uniformity and consistency in the application and implementation of B-BBEE policies, ensuring valid and accurate measurement of B-BBEE across the board.
