DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

African Climate Alliance is a youth-led grassroots organisation that acts and advocates for climate justice (environmental, social & climate change justice).

Based in Cape Town (hybrid working model – 3 days in office), African Climate Alliance seeks to appoint: 

DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR

The Digital Communications Coordinator will work with the Communications Manager to develop and execute social media strategies, create engaging content, and manage advertising campaigns. As well as updating website content, optimizing for SEO, designing digital and print materials, and analyzing digital performance to inform strategy.

The Digital Communications Coordinator will be responsible for the following tasks and duties, among others:

Social Media Management

1. Create and implement comprehensive social media strategies to enhance ACA’s digital presence and communication with its digital youth network

2. Stay up-to-date with the latest social media trends, tools, and best practices to ensure strategies are current and effective

3. Generate engaging and relevant content for various social media platforms in partnership with the Communications Manager

4. Produce high-quality visuals and copy

5. Schedule and publish posts using social media management tools

6. Create, maintain and optimise social media advertising campaigns and strategies

7. Online community management

Graphic Design & Website management

1. Update and maintain website content, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and alignment with ACA communication strategies.

2. Optimize website content for SEO and user experience.

3. Develop digital and print designs Use digital analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, social media insights) to track and analyze the performance of digital communications efforts.

4. Prepare regular reports on digital engagement, campaign effectiveness, and website traffic.

5. Provide recommendations based on data insights to enhance digital communication strategies.

6. Map and segment audience lists to target specific audiences effectively and help ACA understand its audience

7. Monitor email and social media campaign performance, including open rates, click-through rates, and conversions, and advice on adjusting strategies as needed.

General

1. Assisting with achievement of organizational objectives.

2. General ad-hoc related functions.

3. Compliance with health and safety and general housekeeping standards

The Digital Communications Coordinator must meet the following criteria:

1. 2-4 years work experience in a similar position.

2. Experience in social impact / environmental impact advantageous.

3. Must be based in Cape Town.

This is a 1-year contract with a possibility of renewal.
