There is currently a vacancy at ITPC Global within the Make Medicines Affordable department, for the role of UTD Grant and Compliance Officer.

The successful candidate will be responsible for efficient day-to-day grant and compliance related activities to provide grant and financial support to partner organisations so that they can carry out their advocacy campaigns and interventions to improve IP barriers and access to treatment. This is a full-time, hybrid/remote working position.

Core Responsibilities 

 

  • Monitor sub-recipient compliance with donor regulations and financial guidelines through site visits, desk reviews, and other mechanisms. 
  • Review partners’ financial reports monthly via a grant tracking tool to ensure only eligible expenses are charged.
  • Prepare liquidation entries and/journals for upload to the accounting package. 
  • Review and ensure proper expense coding and documentation. 
  • Prepare partner disbursement requests. 
  • Reconcile accounts. 
  • Work with Project staff in budget preparation and assist coordination and implementation. 
  • Prepare estimate budgets for training and grant meetings including assisting the small grants formal selection process and financial documentation preparation for subgrant agreement. 
  • Assist in preparation for external monitoring visits, reviews and cross site evaluations.
  • Support internal and external audits and coordination of action plans. 
  • Assist the Grants and Compliance Manager with UNITAID grant financial reporting and overall efficient implementation of UNITAID-project activities including close out of grant in accounting system, reporting system and grant tracking tool. 
  • Actively participate in generation and interpretation of monthly financial reports and communicate key indicators to stakeholders. 
  • Collaborate with the Grants and Compliance Manager on strengthening internal control systems, processes and procedures. 
  • Identify risk issues and challenges and recommend solutions. 
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with donors and partners whilst ensuring all communications are effectively managed. 
  • Network with internal/external stakeholders.
  • Liaise with the team regarding donor funding targets/requirements. 
  • Assist in representing ITPC in meetings, workshops and conferences.
  • Contribute to safeguard and build the culture of ITPC and represent ITPCs values in national, regional and international arenas.

 

Requirements 

 

  1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance or related field.
  2. At least three (3) years work experience with a Not-For-Profit Organisation with inclination to grant financial reporting and compliance or internal audit.
  3. Experience in major donor regulations such as UN funding streams, UNITAID, USAID, or Global Fund. 
  4. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  5. Practical knowledge of financial systems, internal financial controls and procedures. 
  6. Proficiency in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and accounting systems) including greater knowledge of Excel pivot tables, VLOOKUP, HLOOKUP, etc.
  7. Good analytical, organisational, and systems thinking skills and sound judgement. 
  8. Ethical conduct in accordance with recognised professional and organisational codes.
  9. Proactive, resourceful and results oriented. 
  10. Good relationship management skills and ability to work closely with partners. 
  11. Attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities. 
  12. Ability to work under pressure, balancing competing demands to achieve agreed results. 
  13. Strong written and oral communication (including presentation) skills in English is required. In addition to English, the ability to work in another language is a plus.
  14. Comfort working collaboratively both in-person & virtually (using Zoom, Slack, Teams, and other tools).
  15. Must have own, reliable transport. 
  16. This is a site-bound role with 30 – 40 % travel.
