As the Operations Officer at Rise Above Development, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth functioning of all organisational programs and activities. You'll manage and optimise daily operations, implementing policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Working closely with the existing team, you'll streamline workflows and foster cross-functional collaboration. Additionally, you'll collaborate with RAD's program facilitators to plan, execute, and evaluate program activities, while also monitoring budgets and ensuring financial accountability. Your role will involve engaging stakeholders to identify program needs and opportunities for improvement and assisting in the development of program proposals and reports. Financial oversight is key, as you'll work closely with the Finance Officer to monitor budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial accountability. In terms of human resources management, you'll lead recruitment, on-boarding, training, and performance management processes, fostering a positive work culture. Cultivating strong relationships with stakeholders and representing RAD in various forums will also be part of your responsibilities, ensuring effective collaboration and resource mobilisation. Your dedication to addressing stakeholder inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner will contribute to RAD's mission of sustainable development.

Essential Requirements

- Matric Certification 

- Strong leadership abilities with a track record of effectively managing teams and driving results.

- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.

- Solid understanding of financial principles and budget management

- Proficiency in MS Office suite and familiarity with operational software/systems.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.

- Excellent report writing skills and proficient in M&E reporting

- Commitment to RAD's mission and values.

- +3 years experience in a similar role

- Valid Police Clearance

- Valid Driving licence and own transport

Desired

- Qualified Child and Youth Worker or business or other relevant tertiary qualifications

- SACSSP Registered

- Ideally from Lavender Hill or the surrounding area. 

- Business or other relevant tertiary qualification

Key Responsibilities in detail: 

Operational oversight

  • Manage and optimise daily operations to ensure smooth functioning of all organisational programmes and activities.

  • Ensure the ongoing implementation of operational policies and procedures to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

  • Work with the existing team to streamline workflows and improve cross-functional collaboration

Program oversight:

  • Work closely with RADs programmes facilitators  to ensure the successful planning, execution, and evaluation of program activities.

  • Monitor program budgets, expenditures, and resource allocation to ensure financial accountability.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify program needs, opportunities, and areas for improvement.

  • Assist in the development of program proposals, reports, and presentations as needed.

Financial oversight

  • Work closely with the Finance Officer to monitor budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial accountability, including petty cash management

  • Assist in financial planning and forecasting to support organisational growth and sustainability.

  • Review financial reports and provide recommendations for cost-saving measures and resource allocation.

Human Resources Management:

  • Lead recruitment, onboarding, training, and performance management processes.

  • Foster a positive and inclusive work culture that promotes employee engagement and professional development.

  • Address personnel issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner, adhering to RAD's values and policies.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders, including donors, partners, government agencies, and community members.

  • Represent RAD in meetings, conferences, and networking events to promote collaboration and resource mobilisation.

  • Address stakeholder inquiries and concerns in a professional and timely manner
