SENIOR   TECHNICAL ADVISOR,  QUALITY IMPROVEMENT & ASSURANCE

HEALTH SECTOR  - CHILD / ADOLESCENT  HIV SPECIALIST

PAEDIATRIC ADOLESCENT  TREATMENT AFRICA (PATA) is an established non-profit organization working in the field of healthcare, has a presence in 23, and runs projects in 12 African countries to provide technical support, people-centred care, and treatment specifically in the care of Paediatric and Adolescents with HIV/Aids.  The organization is focused on network development in the next 6 years and thus is aiming to develop learning, increased investments in frontline healthcare, and the empowerment of healthcare workers as influential change-makers and champions to end AIDS by 2030.

Working closely with and reporting to  the Head of Programmes and Knowledge , you will be responsible for providing technical oversight and quality assurance for paediatric, adolescent and youth programmes, and facilitating learning and internal capacity building for programme staff in line with the organization’s strategy.

This critical role provides clinical and technical support to country staff, facilitating the implementation of the organisation’s service package and ensuring the highest quality standards. Working with Programme Managers and Country Representatives, you will focus on articulating and empowering staff to embody and maintain a distinctive technical approach that ensures the quality, consistency and coherence of our programmes, while making adaptations as necessary for different contexts. You will play a key role in supporting country teams in bridging the gap between policy and practice, while translating global practice and national guidance into accountable strategies that respond to contextual needs. 

Key responsibilities:

Clinical and Technical Support

  1. Maintain the high level of technical expertise in adolescent/paediatric health programming in particular in areas of HIV/SRH prevention, care, and treatment to keep the organisation’s staff informed of global trends and opportunities relating to their strategic plans.

  2. Develop high quality standardized package of technical support to systematically capacity build field staff to deliver interventions throughout the continuum of prevention and care from infancy to adulthood.

Quality improvement

  1. Lead programme implementation to enhance the quality of programmes through systematic assessments, feedback mechansims, and continuous improvement strategies.

  2. Develop and institutionalise an internal programme evaluation mechanism

Capacity Building

  1.  Provide technical guidance, mentoring and internal hands-on capacity building across all programme staff, as well as health care provider champions.

  2. Oversee the development /review and revisions, and roll out of training materials, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement with the organisation

Real-World Evidence and Documentation

  1. Work in collaboration with Monitoring and Knowledge Management Hub to synthesise and package learnings from the frontline.

  2. Facilitate collation of real-world evidence to support peer-to-peer and south-to-south learning and to inform advocacy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPEREINCE REQUIRED:-

  1. Medical degree or Clinical Nurse Specialist with a Masters degree in relevant field including Public Health or other related Social Science field.

  2. Extensive experience (A minimum of 5 years)  at regional level in paediatric and adolescent HIV care and treatment service delivery

  3. Proven experience in quality improvement methodologies.

  4. Demonstrable experience with implementation of global and regional guidelines for paediatric and adolescent care.

  5. Ability to adapt strategies to diverse cultural and contextual settings.
