Humana People to People in South Africa seeks to recruit 1 Professional Nurse. The successful applicant will be based at Zululand District, KwaZulu Natal Province.

Job Purpose

As a Professional Nurse, you are responsible for implementing procedural nursing sequences and diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and evaluating communicable and infectious diseases. The nurse will consult and provide preventative, curative and rehabilitative treatment/health care to sex workers with various clinical specialties (communicable, noncommunicable, and adult curing care), so that the nurse can identify the needs of patients, and make sure personalised nursing care is available to enable early detection, control and recovery from illnesses and diseases as well as prevent/notify occupational health hazards in advance.

The professional nurse will also disseminate advice and information on health issues and associated treatment applications in order to ensure effective Primary Health Care for sex workers. Perform quality assurance tasks, reporting and administration tasks as required.

The HPPSA is looking for candidates who can demonstrate the following qualities:

Qualifications/ Requirements: 

1. Degree/Diploma in Nursing (NQ Level 5) 

2. Valid driver’s license 

3. Current registration with the Nursing council 

4. Dispensing license 

5. Experience with community mobilization and peer education. 

6. NIMART, ART Clubs, Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH), and previous experience in sex workers – desirable. 

7. Understanding of the challenges facing sex workers in the health context and an ability to communicate and work well with sex workers in the provision of health services. 

8. Understanding of NPO 

9. Computer literacy
