Isibani Development Partners is a South African-registered NGO, launched in 2011 to become a leading local technical assistance provider, systems strengthening, and grants manager for health and social service in Southern Africa. Isibani is appointed by the National Department of Health to serve as one of the Sub-Recipients (SRs) for the GLOBAL FUND TB/HIV Program in Ekurhuleni district (Gauteng Province), King Cetshwayo and UGU health districts (Kwa-Zulu Natal Province), from 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2025. Isibani seeks to appoint Professional Nurse to be based in EKU district. 

 

Job Overview: 

 

The role of the Professional Nurse is to provide registration of patients who are diagnosed with TB in hospitals. Improve quality standards for recording of TB data in hospital. Coordinate the down referral of patients diagnosed in the hospital and follow up patients reached the clinic as well as close contact tracing. Work closely with information officers in the hospital. Coordinate TB specific training based on the need and participate in district quarterly TB and data review meetings    

 

 

Key Responsibilities Include 

 

  1. Improve quality standards for recording, reporting of TB data in the hospital. 

 

  1. Register patients who are diagnosed with TB in the hospital. 

 

  1. Coordinate the down referral of patients diagnosed in the hospital and follow up to confirm that they reached the clinic and close contacts are traced. 

 

  1. supervise and monitor capturing of TB data in the information system by the data capturer. 

 

  1. Collate the data in the TB identification register for the hospital for reporting. 

 

  1. Coordinate TB activities in the hospital, in close collaboration with hospital management. 

 

  1. Compile quarterly reports for SR program manager and district TB/HAST Manager  

 

  1. Coordinate the finding cases actively, separating safely and treating effectively (FAST) strategy and QI activities in the hospital. 

 

  1. Work closely with information officers in the hospital.  

 

  1. Support in-hospital TB and HIV care and Infection prevention and control activities 

 

  1. Promote the provision of treatment for latent TB infection (LTBI) in eligible patients. 

 

  1. Map their feeder clinics and create and maintain a data base 

 

  1. Participate in district quarterly TB and data review meetings. 

 

  1. Coordinate TB specific training based on the need.

Qualification and Experience: 

 

  • Diploma in Nursing or Bachelor's degree (B. Cur). 
  • Qualification in Community health nursing or Primary Health Care will be an advantage. 
  • Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Professional Nurse 
  • Minimum of 3 years working experience in public health care sector   
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in clinical management of TB and HIV  
  • Sound knowledge on TB/HIV data tools and systems 
  • Sound leadership and people management skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office packages  
  • Verbal and written communication skills 
  • Valid driver’s license
