About the Instructional Leadership Institute  

In South Africa, students from low-income backgrounds are disproportionately likely to miss out on high quality education and finish school with low levels of literacy and numeracy, limiting their life chances and fueling the cycle of poverty. School leaders play a key role in changing this trend with evidence showing that there is a direct path between good leadership and student outcomes. However, many school principals lack the necessary training and skills to support high quality teaching and learning processes in their schools.   

  

The Instructional Leadership Institute (ILI) was set up in 2017 by Ark’s Education Partnerships Group, to adapt the global instructional leadership approach to the South African context through our work with school leaders, with the aim of building their instructional leadership capacity and supporting them to achieve transformational outcomes for their learners.
