Advert for Part time tutors

 

PROTEC is an NPO in the education space with its focus on the STEM careers and also extending into the commercial field.

 

The program’s aim and intention is to improve the learner performance in Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Commercial subjects, thereby affording them the opportunity to pursue STEM related careers.   

 

The model of support used focuses on the three strands namely, learner support (SSV – School Support Visit), Teacher Support and Teacher development.  

 

PROTEC head office is in Randburg but has branches and projects in other parts of the country.  

 

(Gauteng, Kwazulu Natal, Eastern Cape and Northern Cape)

POST DESCRIPTION: PART TIME SUBJECT TUTORS MEDIUM OF INSTRUCTION IS AFRIKAANS AND ENGLISH

 

Teacher Development and Learner support (Grade 8-12)

 

Subjects: Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Physical Sciences, Economic Management Sciences and Accounting.

 

Closing date: 17 November 2023

 

Nature of contract: Part Time Independent Contractor. (Persons to be placed on database for any related and relevant service needed now and into the future)

 

JOB SUMMARY

 

Learner support, actual classroom visits and working with the learners in content support to promote visible impact in learner performance.

 

Teacher development through workshops and in-school support.

 

  REQUIREMENTS

 

The incumbent must be available to work during the week; weekends (Saturdays) and during the school holidays.

 

The incumbent must have knowledge in DBE education reform, material development, assessment techniques, implementation of teacher development programmes, online teaching and must be registered with SACE. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for learner support.

 

  • Responsible for teacher development.

 

  • Responsible for development of learning material as and when required.

 

  • Responsible for administering assessment tasks (pre and post-test evaluations during vacations)

 

  • Responsible for compiling a report after every activity.

 

  • Maintain high standards of professional engagement at all times.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • An accredited teacher’s qualification with a minimum of an honors degree.

 

  • Assessor and Moderator accreditation

 

  • At least 5 years’ experience in teaching.

 

  • Must have effective communication skills in Afrikaans or English.

 

  • Must have basic computer skills and some experience in online teaching (e.g., Microsoft Teams).

 

  • Driver’s License essential

 

  • Advanced ICT skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, WhatsApp, MS Teams etc. as platforms and tools to support teaching and learning.
