Registered Professional Nurse - Mobile Clinic
ORT District for Nyandeni Sub District
Job Type: Full –Time
One to One Africa is the South African-registered non-profit organization that works to transform the lives of families, especially children, women, and young people affected by poverty and chronic illness, including HIV. One to One Africa seeks to address core gaps in healthcare in neglected and under-served communities to ensure that families survive and thrive. One to One Africa has developed a solution in terms of a mobile clinic to support the district to enable them to make sustainable impact in underserved communities of South Africa.
One to One Africa is looking for a Professional Nurse who is committed in making difference and is passionate on creating an impact by delivering healthcare to community doorsteps through our mobile clinic. The position has the potential to develop into a team leader for the mobile clinic.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Provide Technical Support to Primary Health Care Clinics for integration of MCWH services.
- Conduct integrated chronic conditions, Maternal Child and Women’s Health and Acute illnesses through mobile services.
- Coordinate the multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive support to clients with maternal health challenges, common illnesses with support to Medical Doctors.
- Disseminate, algorithms, guidelines and to support mobile services. Support all other staff in the mobile clinic including training and mentoring.
- Support constant availability of drugs and all other resources and monitor constant functioning of the mobile equipment. Ensure cold chain is maintained.
Provide Quality of Health Care
- Diagnose and manage clients with minor ailments, chronic conditions and MCWH.
- Create MCWH management plans for clients including clinical care, psychosocial support and referrals into hospital or community support organization and other multidisciplinary sections.
- Performing health assessments on a mobile and generate refferaals if necessary.
- Manage referrals that need further management by doctors, arrange appointments and follow referral systems as per DOH.
- Ensure professionalism upholding the highest standards of One to One Africa values.
- Implement routine care of PHC history taking, examinations, assessment diagnoses and management thereof as per targets.
- Develop a link between clinics, hospitals for provision of clinical advices to mobile and referrals.
- Ensure that client information is kept confidential and the POPI act is adhered to all times.
Project Coordination and Team Management
- Coordinate MCWH health services to ensure objectives of the mobile clinic are met.
- Liaise with other stakeholders and keep up to date with relevant trends to ensure that best practices that align with statutory requirements are always applied.
- Coordinate with DOH and the community to improve and track referrals and linkage to care of clients.
- Daily supervision, mentorship and support of other mobile staff members.
- Identify training needs and opportunities for program me staff development, facilitate and arrange required development interventions.
Mobile Clinic Administration and Support
- Ensure availability of Sops, Guidelines and compliance.
- Complete, compile, and submit the relevant reports to line manager and submit as and when required.
- Prepare and support DOH audit processes.
- Support and facilitate the implementation of the MCWH within Nyandeni Sub District and supported facilities.
- Conduct quality reviews within the mobile services and improve processes to ensure best practices.
Data Management
- Ensure all patients records and registers are completed and accurate.
- Maintain accurate records of medical supplies, equipment and drugs in own area of operation.
- Ensure total compliance to data management and processes, and quality control
- Any other relevant tasks as agreed with line manager according to the scope of practice.
Minimum qualifications and experience
- Degree/Diploma in Nursing with Midwifery and any other qualification
- Certificate in PC 101/Adult Primary Care
- IMCI
- Basic HIV/NIMART
- 3-5 years of experience in Primary Health Care setting and exposure to Admiration and Management will be an advantage.
