About Company

PGDip Advancement and Resource Mobilisation

Advancement focuses on how an organisation or institution engages with its external environment to attract the resources it needs to advance its objectives. This is done through a strategic process bringing together its leadership, communications, marketing, fundraising and alumni relations that creates alignment to strengthen the entity’s credibility and support. There exists a critical need to professionalise the work of social sector practitioners in areas in the NGO, PBOs and higher education sectors so that they are adequately equipped with the knowledge, expertise, and skills to undertake effective advancement roles, while holding a recognised qualification from a business school. The Post Graduate Diploma in Advancement and Resource Mobilisation (PGDARM) will be especially suited for fundraisers, communication and marketing personnel, university development officers, as well as organisational CEOs and Directors.

PGDARM comprises five compulsory modules and a Capstone Project. It is delivered as a blended learning course, with one week each year of campus classes in our Business School Campus in Makhanda (Grahamstown). This time will also offer networking opportunities and exposure to advancement practices. The rest of the classes are online in the comfort of your office or home. These are two-and-a-half (2.5) hour sessions presented on Wednesday afternoons (16h00 – 18h30) and one half-a-day (5-hour) session on one Saturday each month (08h00 – 13h00) during the first year, no Saturday classes during the second year.
