1 X Relief Auxiliary CYCW position for FEMALE applicants only.

St Michael’s CYCC is a registered Child and Youth Care Centre for 25 adolescent girls between the ages of 13 – 18 years.

St Michael’s seeks to appoint Child and Youth Care Workers to be based in Plumstead Cape Town.

Responsibilities:

Assess and respond to the individual needs of youth:
Report and manage the youth’s behaviour.
Organise, engage in, and supervise recreational and developmental programmes.
Complete administrative duties and record keeping.
Be a team player.
Transport youth or assist drivers when necessary.
Attend all relevant meetings as required.
Maintain order, safety, and cleanliness.
Facilitate preparation of meals.
Supervising study time of youth.
Take responsibility and supervision of the general hygiene and cleanliness of youth and their rooms.
Enhance the social and living skills of youth to facilitate their effective re-integration with their families
Attend all training and Staff meetings as scheduled

Requirements:

Grade 10-12 and a specific qualification as a Child and Youth Care Worker;
Preferably with NACCW, Hugenote College, DUT qualifications, and proven experience at Child & Youth Care Centre.
Must be Registered with SACSSP.
Fluency in English and either Afrikaans or isiXhosa.
A valid driver’s license a required or working towards.
Experience in working with adolescent female youth presenting challenging behaviour.
Willingness to work shifts and over weekends and holidays;
Team player, Be a role model to young people
Ability to act as a trusted advisor to the children.
Mature, responsible, and fair.
Willingness and ability to direct, supervise, and interact positively with youth.
