Kevin Richardson Foundation

The Kevin Richardson Foundation (KRF) was established in 2018 to advance the protection of wildlife with the lion (panthera leo) as its flagship specie. The organization tackles the four main issues that threaten wild lion populations: human-wildlife conflict, shrinking habitats, poaching and snaring, and lack of opportunities for communities living on the fringes of lion habitats.

Based in South Africa (Gauteng preferred, remote work) – The Kevin Richardson Foundation (KRF) seeks to appoint a

FOUNDATION MANAGER

The Foundation Manager will be responsible for the overall fundraising strategy, whilst building the KRF donor care capacity. He/she must have a history of success in capital fundraising campaigns with excellent stakeholder engagement and donor relations skills.

The Foundation Manager will be responsible for (but not limited to) the following duties:

  1. Compile and maintain a database of local and international donor organisations

  2. Compile, maintain and update a donor strategy.

  3. Regularly monitor and evaluate relevant donor proposal calls from donor websites and identify and inform Management Team of donor opportunities matching the work of the KRF.

  4. Prepare funding submissions and ensure timely and compliant submission.

  5. Assist the Executive team in writing concept notes and project proposals.

  6. Manage the compilation of joint funding proposals with KRF partners (government, civil society, business, research and academia).

  7. Provide support for meetings with donors, such as documentation, notes and follow up.

  8. Provide advice on different donor reporting and governance requirements.

  9. Build KRF donor care capacity.

  10. Provide advice on KRF communications with the donor community

The Foundation Manager must meet the following criteria:

 

  1. A history of success in capital fundraising campaigns

  2. Experience in building and managing small non-profit teams 

  3. Experience in managing the overall operations of a small/medium non-profit or public benefit entity

  4. Financial planning skills and budget management

  5. Excellent stakeholder engagement and donor relations 

  6. Experience in international grant applications and fundraising 

  7. Experience in grants management and reporting

  8. Excellent writing skills

  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite 

  10. Ability to travel

  11. The ability to work with a widespread team and partners and communicate effectively via email and Zoom

  12. Ability to report to the Board on all activities, financials, project KPI’s and fundraising campaigns

  13. Confidence to chair meetings as well as deliver annual report at AGM 

  14. Confidence to pitch potential donors including corportations, trusts and HNWI'

Nice to haves:

  1. Passion for or history of working in the conservation, environmental and wildlife sector

  2. Basic design or editing skills

  3. History in legacy and bequeathments management as well as cultivating such relationships

  4. Newsletter database management
