We are seeking to employ a Project Manager to run our Rural Community Outreach Project.  This role includes planning, initiating, executing and monitoring the success of the rural outreach project which is aimed at training and uplifting the lives of disabled people in rural areas.

 

The position requires frequent travel to remote rural areas and although our base of operations is Cape Town applicants from KwaZulu Natal are welcome to apply. The Project Manager reports directly to the board.

 

Responsibilities     

 

  • Help define project scope, goals and deliverables
  • Create a project schedule and timeline
  • Plan, organize and implement all training courses, liaising with training partners and other stakeholders.
  • Oversee, monitor and mentor The Rachels Swart Fund beneficiary businesses 
  • Manage the project budget
  • Report to the board on the project and funder status
  • Present to stakeholders reports on progress as well as problems and solutions
  • Implement and manage changes when necessary to meet project deliverables
  • Evaluate and assess the result of the project
  • Liaise with local partners, funders and beneficiaries
  • Draught donor proposals and report back as required
  • Establish new avenues for funding
  • Draught an annual budget with the bookkeeper for committee approval
  • Organize and report on committee meetings 
  • Create the Annual Report

 

Candidate requirements  

  • A degree or diploma is desirable particularly in social work.
  • At least five years commercial experience preferably in an NGO environment.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Strong writing and administration skills
  • Strong sense of humanitarian values
  • Sound knowledge of funding strategies and trends
  • Understands the disability sector and State health institutions
  • Strong civil society and NGO ethos
  • The ability to use Salesforce is recommended.
  • Own transport 
  • Sound knowledge of management systems and methodologies
  • Experienced in M&E
  • Grasp of basic finance and human resource skills
  • Ability to work with social media
