About the Role

Purpose:

 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Development Executive with a strong background in the NGO sector, specifically in global health initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess comprehensive knowledge of global health funding landscapes, including key players such as USAID, WHO, PEPFAR, Gates Foundation etc. and other major funding organizations. This role requires a proven track record in sourcing grants, establishing funding partnerships, and expanding business opportunities to drive growth within our organization.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  1. Identify and cultivate strategic relationships with global health funders, including government agencies and international funding bodies.

  2. Lead the development and execution of innovative strategies to secure grants, funding partnerships, and donor collaborations.

  3. Drive business development efforts to expand Higher Health’s presence in international markets, leveraging existing networks and forging new relationships.

  4. Collaborate with program teams to align business development efforts with organizational objectives and programmatic priorities.

  5. Research and analyse market trends, identifying new opportunities for growth and impact within the global health sector.

  6. Prepare compelling proposals, presentations, and pitches tailored to the interests and requirements of potential funders and partners.

 

Qualifications

  1. MBA or advanced degree in a relevant field (public health, international development, business administration, etc.) preferred.

  2. Added advantage can be a qualification in business development, public administration, marketing and/or master’s in public management. 

 

Experience

  1. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in business development, fundraising, or related roles within the NGO sector, with a specific focus on health.

  2. Strong understanding of the global health funding landscape, including experience working with major donors and other global health funds.

  3. Proven ability to establish and nurture relationships with key stakeholders in the health and development sectors, including government agencies, DFI’s, foundations, family offices, international organizations etc.

  4. Demonstrated success in securing grants, partnerships, and funding agreements that drive organizational growth and impact.

  5. Strong project management experience

  6. Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage diverse audiences.

  7. Strong English writing skills 

  8. Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Behavioural Attributes

  1. Entrepreneurial mindset with a passion for driving social impact through innovative business development strategies.

  2. Fluency in English; proficiency in other languages is a plus.
