They support companies in aligning their strategies and operations with ten universally accepted principles in human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption. Through collaborative initiatives and capacity-building programs, GCNSA aims to foster a more inclusive and sustainable economy.

Based in Johannesburg – GCNSA seeks to appoint an

EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT & OPERATIONS

The Global Compact Network South Africa (GCNSA) is an independent Network of the UN Global Compact, working collectively with companies in South Africa to advance Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Ten Principles of the UN Global Compact. The Ten Principles, an ESG Framework are broadly in the areas of Human Rights, Labour, Environmental Protection and Anti-Corruption. The UN Global Compact is the world’s largest corporate sustainability platform, working with companies to scale and accelerate their collective impact through the SDGs and the Ten Principles. The Executive Assistant/Operations is required to support the Office of the ED with business-related tasks such as Governance, Administration, Human Resources and Communication with other organizational tasks.

The  Executive Assistant & Operations  will be responsible for the following tasks and duties, among others:

Human resources:

  1. Assist with employee relations administration.
  2. Support the implementation of an effective Hiring process
  3. Onboard new team members on internal systems, procure technology and equipment for new team members; assist with training schedules.

Governance:

  1. Provide support to board engagements and scheduling.
  2. Coordinate Board, subcommittee and Annual General Meetings
  3. Accurately recording minutes, finalising, distributing and filing accordingly.
  4. Provide support on implementation of Board resolutions.

Administration:

  1. Manage calendar and email activities, coordinate and schedule meetings and calls; draft email correspondence; set up and manage video meetings and conference calls; attend and participate in team meetings.
  2. Keep an accurate and updated filing system for all documents. Upload documents on SharePoint for easy access 
  3. Reading and analysing incoming memos, correspondence, emails, submissions and distributing them as required.
  4. Preparing letters, memos, communication, reports, and other documents.
  5. Coordinate internal and external meetings efficiently
  6. Coordinate travel in compliance with the Travel Policy 

Partnerships & Communication:

  1. Support the communication with participants and stakeholders- memos, letters, etc.
  2. Support the communication from the ED’s office- OpEd, articles, etc.
  3. Support the Communications from the ED’s office including Branding of the Office of the ED and profiling the work of the Network.
  4. Update social media of all speaking engagements of the ED.
  5. Coordinate partnership agreements. 
  6. Act Liaison point for the GCNSA for special events & partnerships.

The  Executive Assistant & Operations  must meet the following criteria:

Qualifications and Experience:

  1. Minimum five progressive years of recent administrative and/or customer service experience; professional services environment preferred. 
  2. An Undergraduate degree in a related field.

  3. Effective written and verbal communication skills. 
  4. Ability to adapt to and support change. 
  5. Must be motivated, innovative and have a proactive approach while working under minimal supervision.

  7. Promote a teaming culture with common goals to maintain a high-performing team. 
  8. Attention to detail and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality is imperative. 
  9. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications, web-based research skills and ability to learn applications and technology.
