The Western Cape Economic Development Partnership, known as the EDP, is an independent, not-for-profit, collaborative intermediary that works with a range of partners to improve systems performance for improved and inclusive socio-economic development outcomes.

 

The EDP partners with leaders and institutions from different sectors – public, private, civil society, education and academia – to work together, to grow the local, metropolitan, regional and national economy, and to address complex system challenges. 

 

Based in Cape Town, the EDP seeks to fill the following vacancy:

 

KNOWLEDGE AND IMPACT MANAGER

 

The EDP seeks an experienced Knowledge and Impact Manager to lead its Knowledge Management and Monitoring, Reporting, Evaluation and Learning functions. This is a senior strategic role focused on strengthening the EDP's impact and knowledge-sharing practices. The role will form part of EDP’s management committee and thus contribute to the overall management of the organisation.

 

 

The Knowledge and Impact Manager will be responsible for the following tasks and duties, among others:

 

 

Strategic leadership and management: 

 

  1. Provide overall strategic leadership and management to developing the EDP’s practice and improving its impact

 

  1. Support the CEO and management committee in the overall strategic leadership and management of the EDP

 

  1. Lead strategic planning and oversee operational implementation of Knowledge Management, Learning, Monitoring and Evaluation initiatives aligned with the EDP’s mission

 

  1. Develop and manage relevant policies and procedures to support these function

 

 

Knowledge & Learning:

 

  1. Take overall strategic custodianship of the EDP’s practice, its documentation and dissemination and improving its impact

 

  1. Develop and implement knowledge management systems to enhance organisational learning, curation and sharing of knowledge

 

  1. Facilitate the dissemination of findings and lessons learned across the organisation and with external stakeholders 

 

 

Monitoring & Reporting (M&R) Management:

 

  1. Take overall strategic custodianship of the EDP’s monitoring and reporting processes 

 

  1. Manage the Monitoring, Reporting and Evaluation team 

 

  1. Provide guidance on MEL within project conceptualisation

 

 

Evaluation:

 

  1. Manage evaluation processes, including planning, scoping, contracting, and execution

 

  1. Lead the development of evaluation frameworks, ensuring organisational activities are aligned with measurable goal

 

 

Budget & Staff Management:

 

  1. Manage team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement

 

  1. Oversee the MEL budget, ensuring efficient resource allocation and use

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Knowledge and Impact Manager needs to be able to demonstrate skills and relevant experience in the following areas:

 

 

  1. Relevant Master’s qualification in Monitoring & Evaluation, Knowledge Management, or a related field to the EDP’s work

 

  1. Proven experience in leading strategic functions or projects, ideally within the development or socio-economic sectors

 

  1. Proven understanding of systems change practice

 

  1. Good understanding of evaluation theories, data analysis, and knowledge management systems

 

  1. Experience in developing and implementing Theories of Change, MEL frameworks, and indicators

 

  1. Ability to develop collaborative working relationships across diverse stakeholders

 

  1. Proficiency in data management and relevant software, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications

 

  1. At least 5 years of management or senior specialist experience, ideally in a leadership role

 

 

This is a 3-year contract with the possibility of renewal based on performance and funding availability.
