The incumbent will be accountable for the educational outcomes for the region with the main emphasis being on the effective implementation and management of the Grow Programme in Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres.

The ideal candidate must be comfortable working with technology and working in an entrepreneurial environment at grass-roots level with at least 10 years’ experience in the Foundation Phase or ECD sector as well as leadership experience. 

Responsibilities:

 

  1. Manage the implementation of the Grow Programme in centres according to their respective packages of support and to meet the required standards. This includes planning the provision of the support services by the team on the regional planner and keeping it updated to ensure the centres receive the required package of support.       
  2. Lead the education mentor team and ensure mentoring, guidance and centre visits are provided according to the respective packages of support as well as the needs of the centres. 
  3. Monitor education mentor reports from site visits, analyse the feedback and status assessment of centres, guide the mentor team in developing action plans to address issues and areas requiring improvement and ensure implementation thereof. 
  4. Manage the regional training as per the national training plan and calendar. 
  5. Market the Grow Academy face to face training with teachers and owners of centres using the Grow Programme
  6. Facilitate training for ECD centre owners and teachers. 
  7. Develop strategies to encourage and drive active usage of the App and completion of the Grow Academy online training modules by teachers and ECD centre owners. Provide App support, monitor activity, identify issues, develop and implement action plans.     
  8. Develop strategies to drive active usage of the online curriculum by owners and teachers of centres using the Grow Programme. Identify issues, develop and implement plans. 
  9. Oversee the learner assessment and teacher evaluation process of centres using the Grow Programme, analyse the results, develop action plans based on results with team and ensure implementation thereof. 
  10. Build relationships with centre owners and teachers, visit centres and engage on matters related to education and centre management.
  11. In conjunction with the Regional Manager, plan and facilitate meetings with owners of programme centres.   
  12. Manage external monitoring and evaluation process in region when required.
  13. Provide input in the development of education strategy.   
  14. Monthly and quarterly reporting. 

Requirements and Competencies:  

  1. A relevant Diploma or Degree in Education 
  2. At least 10 years teaching experience in Foundation Phase /Early Childhood Development 
  3. Knowledge of early childhood development programmes 
  4. Experience in directing and shaping curriculum and teaching process
  5. A Driver’s License and must have own transport.
  6. Proficiency in MS Office suite and comfortable with technology
  7. English speaking, ability to speak Tswana or Zulu will be an advantage.   
  8. Experience in leading a team 
  9. Solid experience in training and facilitating training sessions 
  10. Strong planning and organising skills
  11. Strong development and interpersonal skills
  12. Apt in building, managing and retaining strong relationships with customers
  13. Initiative and problem-solving skills
  14. Ability to influence others and move toward a common vision or goal
  15. Excellent written and verbal communication skills
