The Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust (EDCCT) (www.etafeni.org) operates a multi-purpose day care centre and range of outreach services, providing education and wellbeing services to support families and children affected by HIV. The 12 programmes employ over 100 people and include a preschool, a nutrition programme, social worker team, support groups, skills development and income-generation activities, afterschool care, support for unemployed school leavers, a mobile VCT and TB-screening programme and door to door outreach and counselling. 

Based in Nyanga, Cape Town, The Etafeni Day Care Centre Trust seeks to appoint a

FUND DEVELOPMENT AND FUNDRAISING MANAGER

The Fund Development and Fundraising Manager will be responsible for building good relationships with prospective donors and clients across multiple sectors, communicating with the broader public and internal teams, delegating tasks, and drawing up plans to ensure annual targets are met.

Key responsibilities for the Fund Development and Fundraising Manager will include: 

  1. Raise designated and undesignated funding, including in-kind donations.

  2. Develop and implement a fund development strategy that is approved by the trustees 

  3. Promote awareness of the organization’s mission and work

  4. Cultivate a network of dedicated donors and volunteers

  5. Research and identify new fundraising opportunities

  6. Plan fundraising initiatives to help the organization meet financial goals

  7. Form strong relationships with external stakeholders

  8. Ensure major donors are satisfied and kept informed of the organisation’s goals and activities 

  9. Prepare and write funder reports for the different funders as and when required.

  10. Develop and implement, together with the Director, PR and Marketing activities to promote the organisation.

  11. Work with the Program manager on program budgets and work plans to ensure they are aligned with the funder grant agreements.

  12. Work with the Finance Committee, the Finance Manager and the Director to ensure that budget allocations are aligned to funder grant agreements 

  13. Work with the Programme Manager to identify trends and patterns to inform future fundraising goals and programme implementation.

  14. Manage and supervise the Fundraiser Assistant.

The Fund Development and Fundraising Manager must have the following:

  1. At least three years of experience in fundraising, sales, or marketing

  2. Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, business, public relations, or related field

  3. Certificate, diploma, or similar qualification in fundraising

  4. Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills

  5. Competence with donor management systems

  6. Experience in writing grant proposals, press releases, and fundraising letters

  7. Ability to lead and motivate colleagues and volunteers

  8. Strong attention to detail

  9. Passion for research

  10. Ability to successfully balance priorities while managing multiple tasks and planning big events

  11. Confidence in public speaking

This is a 1-year contract with a possibility of renewal.
