VACANCY
POSITION: Social Work
PURPOSE: The program aims at providing the relief intervention and holistic training programmes
LOCATION: MES - Johannesburg
REPORTS TO: Focus Group Manager
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Give support to MES clients in social matters and ensure that they have protection that they need. Assist MES’s clients to improve their lives and to have sustainable exit. Rendering reunification services to clients that need that support.
Responsible to facilitate and implement the four phased model;
These phases include:
1) Social Relief and general relief work.
2) Change Readiness (getting individuals to a place of wanting to make a change and believing it is possible for themselves. This includes rehabilitation from substance use and the acquiring of necessary documentation).
3) Work Readiness and finally,
4) The Exiting phase where individuals exit the program and are reintegrated into community with new skills, valuable work experience, resilience and an increased independence which sets them up for long-term success.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSINBILITIES
To form part of Work Readiness team (the rehabilitative program in which job readiness, general life skills as well as holistic well-being are addressed).
Individual case management and tracking of Work Readiness clients
Provide counselling and therapeutic services to Work Readiness clients
Facilitate group development sessions for Work Readiness clients
To assist and support clients to cope with the challenges they are facing.
To guide and refer clients to relevant service providers.
To provide training on issues that will influence the clients’ social wellbeing.
To plan and offer proposals to improve the lives of the clients.
To partner with MES in developing the clients and working towards a sustainable exit plan.
Contribute to the development of the program from a Social Work perspective.
Intake: Assessing all new cases and enquiries and recommending further intervention or referring the clients to relevant service providers.
Family reunification services through counselling, mediation, and assessments of the family’s systems’ ability to cater for the needs of the clients.
REQUIREMENTS
Education/Qualifications
Bachelor of Social Work Degree
Proof of Registration with the SACSSP
Knowledge/Skills/Experience Desired
At least 2 years’ statutory social work experience
Good report writing skills
Strong assessment and analytic skills
Ability to communicate well in English
Computer literate
Valid driver’s licence and ability to drive
Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Good Interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment
