Kenya is anticipating investments in its tech sector from businesses as far away as Estonia and Germany.

This week, executives from two European technology companies visited the East African country to explore investment potential.

The group held various meetings, which were led by John Kipchumba Tanui, principal secretary: state department for information and communications technology and digital economy, on behalf of the Kenyan government.

On Tuesday, he met with a group from Lufthansa Industry Solutions, a German-based service provider of information technology consulting and system integration.

Jörn Messner, Lufthansa's managing director, and Joer-Matthias Derrer, the company's business executive, led the team to Nairobi.

Tauni said Lufthansa was looking at digital investment prospects in Kenya, as well as prospective partnerships, and plans to construct a center there.

When a center is established, Lufthansa will join Amazon Web Services and Microsoft in establishing operations in Kenya, East Africa's second largest economy after Ethiopia.

"Kenya is actively encouraging such investments to boost economic growth and innovation." Tanui added:

Tanui had previously met with representatives from the Estonian Centre for International Development and the German Development Corporation to discuss potential collaboration areas.
