SANCCOB is a leading seabird conservation non-profit organisation which seeks to employ a Resource Development Lead, to join their energetic and dedicated team based in Cape Town.

This position will play a critical role in supporting seabird conservation by maximising fundraising potential and providing leadership to the Resource Development team. 

The Resource Development Lead is a key member, reporting to the Head of Operations who directs SANCCOB’s operational strategic objectives. 

Responsibilities: 

• Responsible for strategic collaborations, consortium fundraising, trust and foundation fundraising, philanthropic entity fundraising and foreign aid fundraising, ensuring this comes to fruition.

 • Lead and facilitate the production of professional, high-quality, and appropriate fundraising proposals and coordinate the submission of all funding proposal submissions for the organisation, locally and globally. 

• Direct the development of a fundraising and marketing strategy, ensuring it is effectively executed and managed.

 • Lead and manage the fundraising and marketing team to ensure optimal performance, including meeting income and other targets, adapting to ensure these are met, and that donor stewardship strategies are implemented and managed.

 • Research and recommend new fundraising techniques in response to changes in the general fundraising environment and provide specialist input regarding fundraising and marketing. 

• Analyse fundraising and marketing programmes and trends to ensure the growth of the organisation, and lead and facilitate proposal development. 

• Develop, and maintain relationships with current donors, to ensure continued support, and identify new fundraising and donor engagement opportunities, with a focus on sustainable funding (3-5 years). 

• Ensure the implementation of an effective marketing and media campaign to enhance the organisation’s brand value and optimise overall media performance (all channels), both locally and globally. 

• Identify and oversee fundraising and marketing events. 

• Ensure that excellent donor records are maintained, and that the donor database (DEVMAN) is continuously updated and optimally utilised. This includes regular communications with donors (newsletters, mailshots, etc.). 

• In collaboration with the fundraising and marketing team, and the Head of Operations, compile annual income and expenditure budgets. Education 

Requirements: 

• Matric certificate. 

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Sales, Marketing, Writing or Fundraising, would be an added advantage. Abilities and Experience Requirements: 

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet time sensitive deadlines.

 • Critical and analytical thinking and excellent English writing skills are essential. 

• Fundraising, sales or entrepreneurial experience with a passion for and commitment to targets.

 • Experience in NGO/NPO fundraising and marketing. 

• Grant writing, reporting and presentation skills. 

• SDG, MEL, Log frames, and Theory of Change applied knowledge.  

• Experience with foreign aid, consortium fundraising, and similar fundraising applications would be an added advantage.

 • Ability to work with senior management.  

• Ability to provide strategic input and leadership and effectively manage a team. This includes being responsible for the overall performance of the team and holding the team accountable for income targets.  

• Ability to lead and implement business planning and proposal development. 

• Microsoft Office Suite and CANVA or any other funding proposal development software.

 • Understanding of donor database systems.

 Other Requirements:

 • South African citizen or valid work permit.

 • Valid driver’s license.
