Isibani Development Partners is a South African-registered NGO, launched in 2011 to become a leading local technical assistance provider, systems strengthening and grants manager for health and social service in Southern Africa. Isibani is appointed by the National Department of Health to serve as one of the Sub-Recipients (SRs) for the GLOBAL FUND TB/HIV Program in Ekurhuleni district (Gauteng Province), King Cetshwayo and UGU health districts (Kwa-Zulu Natal Province), from 01 April 2022 to 31 March 2025. Isibani seeks to appoint an Enrolled Nurse Assistant to be based at Ekurhuleni district.


Job Overview:
The role of the sub-district Enrolled Nursing Assistant (ENA) involves working alongside a Private General Practitioner working in collaboration with Isibani Development Partners within the Private Public Model (PPM) Project. Duties include:
- Ensuring all clients presenting for medical assessment are screened for TB symptoms.
- Collecting sputum on the spot as required.
- Following up on results and taking appropriate action.
- Successfully linking positive clients to care.
- Identifying close contacts and managing TSOs to perform contact tracing, contact assessment, and linkage to care.
 

Additionally, the ENA will be responsible for generating daily, weekly, and monthly reports for data reporting. The ENA will also conduct patient education on TB prevention, symptoms, and adherence to treatment.


Key Responsibilities Include
•Screen clients presenting for medical care for symptoms of TB
•Collect on-the-spot sputum from all eligible clients
•Follow up on sputum results for actioning
•Referral and linkage to care of TB positive clients to DOH facilities to receive treatment
•Conduct health education sessions within the practice to raise awareness about TB, its symptoms, transmission, and prevention.
•Contact Tracing by assisting in the identification and follow-up of individuals who have had close contact with TB patients.
•Set up and prepare for daily activities and schedule for TB support officers.
•Generates daily, weekly, and monthly reporting of data for reporting.
•Update client records with laboratory sputum results and treatment start date.
•Ensure availability of registers and other commodities required in the project.
•Work with the Data Captures to ensure that data is captured on the system and verified to ensure data quality.
•Conduct patient education on TB prevention, symptoms, and adherence to treatment
•Link with community team on tracing of household contacts of all TB index cases from PPM Project.


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
•Good communication skills

•Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with district/sub-district management teams and facilities.
•Good problem-solving & reasoning ability

Qualification and Experience:
•Higher Certificate in Auxiliary Nurse or an equivalent qualification as Nursing Assistant
•Current Registration with SANC as an auxiliary nurse
•2 years of working experience within a similar environment or any clinical setting
•Knowledge of basic TB, and HIV management
•Experience in health promotion and health education
•Computer literacy in Microsoft Package
•Proficiency in verbal and written communication skills
•Willing to travel and work after hours.
