The Sister Mura Foundation (SMF) works with vulnerable people, especially foreign nationals, who are living with HIV. This includes hosting support groups for adults and teenagers living with HIV; initiating income-generating projects, such as our bead project, which has run for 13 years, and our sewing workshop; and with educational support. Currently 80 families are helped with school fees for primary and secondary school kids and nine teenagers are studying at high schools or universities on bursaries provided by the Foundation. We offer skills training to SMF members with HIV to help them to earn a living and we assist families to bury their loved ones with dignity if there is no funeral policy. We have a large vegetable garden at our Sister Mura Foundation through which we feed our members and promote the adoption of a healthy lifestyle.
