The Gender Links Cottages Manager is responsible for the overall operation of the bed and breakfast (B&B) facility.    This role ensures the establishment's smooth day-to-day running, providing guests with a memorable and pleasant experience.    The manager oversees all aspects of the B&B, Conferencing, including guest services, staff management, financial performance, marketing and maintenance.   

 

Key Responsibilities:   

 

  1. Guest Services:

 

  • Oversight of welcoming and checking guests, ensuring a high level of hospitality
  • Address guest inquiries, concerns and special request promptly and efficiently
  • Manage reservations, cancellations, and modifications
  • Ensure guest rooms and common areas are clean, well-maintained, and beautifully presented.
  • Oversee meals, ensuring high quality and guest satisfaction.
  • Oversee daily operations of the hotel
  • Maintain established costs and revenue targets
  • Implement and enforce hotel policies and procedures
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws and guidelines

 

2. Staff Management:

 

  • Supervise and schedule staff, including housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance and casual personnel
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, to ensure effective communication and team collaboration
  • Monitor staff performance and provide ongoing feedback and professional development opportunities.

 

3. Financial Management:

 

  • Develop and manage the B&B’s budget, controlling costs and maximizing revenue.
  • Supervise the invoicing and financial record- keeping 
  • Manage inventory and order supplies as needed

 

4. Marketing and Sales:

 

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies to attract guests, including online and offline promotions
  • Build relationships with local businesses and tourism agencies to increase bookings.
  • Monitor guest reviews and feedback on various platforms, addressing issues and enhancing the guest experience.

 

5. Facility Management:

 

  • Oversee maintenance and repair of the B&B to ensure the property is in excellent condition.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and licensing regulations
  • Coordinate with vendors and service providers as needed.

 

Education:

 

  • Degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field is preferred

 

Preferred Requirement:

 

  • Proven experience as a Hotel Manager or relevant role
  • Strong understanding of all hotel management best practices
  • Excellent leadership and organisational skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Friendly and welcoming demeanor
  • Detail-oriented and highly organised
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays and irregular hours as required. 

Experience:   

 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in hospitality, with a focus on small hotels, inns or bed and breakfast establishments

 

Skills:

 

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Financial acumen and experience with budgeting and financial management
  • Marketing and sales proficiency
  • Problem-solving and conflict resolution skills.
