Madulammoho Housing Association is a nonprofit social housing institution, which was established in 2004 to provide transitional, communal and Social Rental housing to low income families. Madulammoho (Sesotho for “living together”) is home to more than 2,400 low-income tenants.
Based in Belhar Gardens or Scottsdene, Cape Town (living on-site) - Madulammoho Housing Association is seeking to fill the position of:
HOUSE MANAGER
The House Manager will be responsible for rent collection and management of vacancies. Other duties include: management of client relationships; overseeing the maintenance management of the buildings and the grounds’ management of visiting stakeholders, staff and service providers.
This position requires a very strong focus on rent collection and staff management.
Key responsibilities for the House Manager will include:
Client Services Management
- Manage the vacancies levels in the buildings
- Manage the rental collection process
- Manage and facilitate the intake and exit process for new tenants
Service Provider Management
- Review the performance of the relevant staff and service providers
- Meet with service providers and provide feedback on performance
HR / Staff management
- Identify, recruit, interview and select suitable candidates for vacant positions on site.
- Induct and train new staff and facilitate the probation period process
- Conduct performance appraisals and derive action plans to improve performance
Maintenance and Security
- Review overall maintenance and security of the building and liaise with maintenance manager on areas of concerns identified
- Address maintenance requirements as identified by tenants by determining through investigation the work required and requesting work orders
- Attend to minor maintenance
- Oversee the in-house maintenance and cleaning teams
The House Manager must fulfill the following requirements:
- A minimum of a Grade 12
- At least 2 years building management
- Experience in maintenance
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Must have a great work ethic and the ability to engage with a variety of different stakeholders
The successful incumbent will be required to live on-site at either the Scottsdene or Belhar Gardens complexes. This is one of the benefits as the unit comes rent free to the House Manager.
