Beautiful Gate SA is a Christian non-profit organisation based in Lower Crossroads, Philippi. For 30 years, Beautiful Gate SA has sought to bring justice to the plight of the poor, especially the orphaned and vulnerable child. Children are at the heart of their work as they believe that the future lies with them and the restoration of their families. Beautiful Gate SA works in a holistic way in their community and have focused their work on three critical areas: Family Strengthening, Child Health and Education. These are areas of great need within their South African peri-urban township context and have a significant impact on the lives of children and their families.

Based in Philippi, Cape Town, Beautiful Gate seeks to appoint a

FAMILY STRENGTHENING AND EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMME MANAGER

 

To lead and transform the Family Strengthening and Empowerment Programme by developing strategic pathways that support and empower families, ensuring that interventions are sustainable and promote independence. The role will involve creating a structured process, developing and aligning curricula, and ensuring that both children and parents are equipped with the necessary skills to thrive independently.

 

Key responsibilities for the Family Strengthening and Empowerment Programme Manager will include: 

  1. Strategy and Theory of Change:  Develop a programme strategy from strengthening to empowerment for families and their children, integrating and refining the theory of change into programme development and implementation.
  2. Develop Pathways Roadmap: Create accessible and understandable processes using infographics and visual aids to guide families through sustainable empowerment pathways towards self-sustainability.
  3. Curriculum Development: Ensure consistency and alignment between children's teaching/support and parents and family interventions, developing the necessary training programmes.
  4. Stakeholder Relationships: Facilitate building and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, network in the sector and stay informed of new developments. Ensure compliance with current donors.
  5. Case Management: Run case management meetings to quality assure the family interventions and develop new solution for family care. 
  6. Team Accountability: Manage the team and hold them accountable, ensuring adherence to processes and continual in-service training to develop team members to understand the holistic and empowerment approach.
  7. Care for the Carers: Ensure the facilitation of Care for the Carer programmes.

The Family Strengthening and Empowerment Programme Manager must meet the following criteria:

  1. Preferred qualified social worker or similar qualification with community development experience
  2. Experience in developing and writing relevant curricula
  3. Strong focus on community development
  4. Ability to develop and implement strategic interventions and plans.
  5. Strong Christian faith and values.
  6. Proficiency in isiXhosa
  7. Must have experience in leading a team through change and a demonstrated ability to lead a team.
