Gauteng Older Persons Forum (GOPF) a nonprofit organization that identify and articulate the concerns and needs of older persons, as voiced by them, and, in consultation with Government and other role players, to ensure that these needs are addressed in legislation, services and programmes.

Vacancy

The Gauteng Older Persons Forum (GOPF) is seeking a dynamic and self-driven individual of high integrity to fill the position of Provincial Coordinator.  Based in Roodepoort, the Provincial Coordinator will report to the GOPF Board. 

The Provincial Coordinator will be responsible for the efficient and effective implementation of all strategic and program objectives of the GOPF. The Provincial Coordinator will work closely with the GOPF board in seeking to advance basic rights of older persons by influencing polices geared towards mainstreaming ageing issues through meaningful engagement. The Provincial Coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the GOPF meets its program objectives and deliverables, on time and on budget, whilst contributing to the achievement of the GOPF’s` strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities include but not limited to: 

  • Manage and develop the GOPF, including staff;

  • Oversee the GOPF finances;

  • Ensure programme results meet/exceed targets aligned with the internal GOPF strategy and commitments to funders;

  • Prepare and implement strategic plan and develop policies and budgets;

  • Ensure sound financial management and planning, including fundraising, budgeting, and grant management and donor reporting;

  • Leading and support fundraising efforts, including new programme development, budgeting and the development and management of relationships with existing and potential donors;

  • Build and maintain relationships with forums, partners, funders, and policymakers.

  • Design, finance and implement the programmes of the GOPF including management of external service providers;

  • Work closely with, guide and account to the Board;

  • Attend all Board meetings and prepare a written report in advance of each meeting detailing matters of interest and concern regarding GOPF’s activities during the previous period; ensure that the Board is made aware in a timely fashion of any matters requiring its attention;

  • Ensure that the GOPF complies with best practice in all areas of operation;

  • Represent the organisation at public events, conferences, and media appearance

 

Key requirements of this challenging post include

  1. An appropriate tertiary qualification;

  2. Proven management skills and experience within the NPO sector;

  3. Valid Code EB drivers licence;

  4. Experience in leading and building an organisation or department;

  5. Good capacity building abilities and experience;

  6. Experience in working with older persons will be distinct advantage;

  7. Above average communication and relationship-building skills, especially in working with a wide variety of challenging stakeholders;

  8. Good financial management, budgeting, procurement and logistics skills and experience as well as the ability to monitor the performance of service providers and contractors;

  9. Report and proposal writing abilities;

  10. Problem solving skills and the ability to think out of the box and come up with alternative and creative solutions;

  11. Experience in fundraising will be a distinct advantage.
