About Company

Sisterlove International South Africa NPC (SLiSA) is a registered NPO based in Parktown, Johannesburg. Since 1999, SisterLove has worked in communities in South Africa. First, in eMalahleni and later establishing SisterLove International South Africa NPC (SLiSA) in the Gauteng Province in 2017. 


SLiSA uses innovative strategies that are Women centered, Human Rights and Feminist based. SisterLove is focused on supporting capacity-building with local community-based groups to address the HIV epidemic through sustainable organizational and program development. The design of its interventions is crafted to ensure an enabling environment for young women’s voices to be heard and for their allies to listen.


SLiSA currently has a vacancy for a Non-Executive, Non-Remunerated Board member to serve on the board for 5 Years, 2024-2029, (or dependent on their progress).


Role of a board member
Ideally this should be a candidate that has some experience within the Civil Society Sector or equivalent /relevant to the organization’s board. Their responsibilities include;
•    Participate in the development and /or revision of the SLiSA’s Strategic Plan.
•    Participate in the development / revision of the SLiSA Risk Management Plan.
•    Participate in the development and /or revision of the SLiSA’s Board Constitution/ Bylaws.
•    Participate in the development and /or revision of the SLiSA’s Policies.
•    Assist with fundraising and resource mobilization.
•    Attend all Board and Sub-Committee meetings and functions, such as special events.
•    Review agenda and supporting materials prior to Board and Sub-Committee Meetings.
•    Serve as Chairpersons on Sub-Committees (upon appointment) and offer to take on special assignments.
•    Assist the Board in carrying out its fiduciary responsibilities, e.g. reviewing SLISA’s annual financial statements etc.
Required Skills and criterion
•    Within the Civil Society sector or equivalent /relevant to the organization,
•    Attention to detail, 
•    Timeliness in completing tasks, 
•    Clear and accurate record keeping,
•    and a willingness to put in the work without remuneration.
